Wings, in the raw by Opallene Wings, in the raw by Opallene
So, yeah, I actually LOVE Twilight Sparkle as a Princess. I drew her here without all of the Princess trappings, though - just the winged creature she is/will become. I believe she is unfolding them in this picture. :)

Ink and Prismacolor pencils on paper.

You know... I usually stick with images that are colored digitally, skipping over or ignoring the ones that are actually made by hand.

This image, however... This one caught my eye almost immediately, and became an instant favorite. :)

Fantastic Job!

Thank you - what a high compliment!

I know what you mean, though. I think when people work traditionally they are often too afraid to really put down enough "ink" (or whatever the medium may be) to make the image full and bright. I learned long ago that you really have to fill every last square centimeter to make it look cohesive. Thanks again for the compliment - I hope you (and I) find more traditional pieces to enjoy, because I refuse to call traditional styles obsolete!

Wow I really like the coloring and shading, the mane is so detailed.

Thanks, haha! I have kind of an odd way of drawing Twilight's plates of hair, but this is how I think they would look in the three-dimensional space I've tried to create with the shading overall.

Very sorry, my lady. I do not wish to insult you. I find it hard some times hard to discern the gender of the poster (post-e).

I always found colored pencils difficult to use. You did a great job here!

Thank you! For me, the keys are: Soft/high-quality pencils; choosing three or more contiguous shades at all times for lighting and texture; blending those freely, especially the mid and lighter shade; and the general principle of tying in all, or a few, base colors everywhere.

I can't do digital very well, haha..I checked out your gallery, and awesome work! I don't have much patience for scenery & backgrounds but I wish I did.

Everyone seems to hate the idea of her being an alicorn, but I think it would be nice.
Beautiful picture by the way.

Yeah, I've noticed... But I'm sure she'll still be her lovable self, and the great character she is. If anyone deserves "awesome powers," I think it's Twilight.

Thanks very much!
