Ummm, hm...Why so maudlin?
The original idea was to draw Twilight Sparkle as a "survivor" of anxiety/depression. Hence the expression and the tears. So don't you dare see her as weak in this picture...She is strong!
It's a real issue, you guys...And I personally see Twilight as a good poster child for success.

Also, I sort of made this piece to use as cover art for a fanmix that expands upon this theme.

I can see where the idea came from; it isn't really alien to Twilight, she seems to have suffered from at least some intense anxiety. The style, too, is interesting; it's simple, and the sparkles are particularly so, but the hatching-like details on the outlines and the solid-colour, but kinda soft and nicely sneaky shading make for a lovely form. And the teary-eyed tentative smile is just too lovable to me.
